The car is running once again.
I replaced the fuel pumps, fuel filter, cap and rotor (really needed it), the throttle positioning potentiometer and it still would not start. Arggh!
I pulled the plugs and noticed that they were due but was convinced they were OK. I checked the crankshaft-positioning sensor and noticed the value was off.
In the process of removing it I found the 5mm bolt was loose! Very loose. I had never been in that part of the engine before. I tightened it but still no start.
Since I was seriously considering having towed somewhere I wanted to make sure I eliminated as many possibilities so I went ahead and changed the plugs.
I gave it one last shot- Started immediately! Yes the plugs were worn but not that bad.
It is now running like a champ.
Go figure.
