That sounds even more dangerous than using a jack.
If you want to spend bucks on a used axle, take some friends along to help let the diff down...you don't want that pumpkin falling...it's freakin' HEAVY!
And, you can really damage those CV joints by deflecting them too far and with that kind of weight against them.
