Joel, that's the problem I was having before I replaced the ignition tumbler/lock cylinder in our 1992 300CE. You need to take your registration card/proof of ownership to a MB dealer and the Service Department can order a replacement ignition tumbler. I replaced it myself after I made the release wire to MB specs. MB dealers sell the release wire if you're not confident about making one yourself. Like most DIY jobs it's quite simple after you do it once ... it takes a certain touch to release the detents so that the tumbler pulls out.
