Unhappy W123 - I just lost 4th gear (auto) - cause?

hiya all - just returned from a 3 month bout of illness, and to make matters worse - my W123 wagon has just let 4th gear go on me.

No earth shattering noises, and it didn't "let go in a big way"... it was there, and then it wasn't!

1-3 changes work fine, and when you think it's changing to 4th... it's like there is the clutch slipping. You do get a "tiny" bit of drive if you're lucky, but certainly not enough to keep momentum..

Sooo... it's off to a garage today, and I'm needing to know what to get them to check for and what "common causes" are? I'm needing to look "informed" ;-)

Is this a common W123 auto issue? She only has 91k miles.. UK car. 230TE, 1985!

cheers
