Years back and recently out of school, I would smoke a couple a day. I worked a full time job and at a restaurant which was about 65 hours a week. It was simply the stress.
That lasted about a year, then I just stopped and never did it again.
My late father smoked up to five packs of Camels a day and would routinely pop the filters off beforehand. Seeing him in the hospital with a nurse sticking a tube down his throat to suck the phlem out so he could breathe is enough to prevent me from ever thinking about it again. And even as sick as that, he would ask me to smuggle cigarettes into the hospital for him!
