I have heard of "chips" not sure about wanting to do that or if it exists. I would assume that an upgrade would be done via "flashing" the computer, not replacing an internal part. Never actually done one or seen where the module would come apart to replace anything inside, my knowledge is a little restricted in this area.
A carbon fiber filter box would be mainly if not totally for looks.
Don't put an aftermarket air filter in, they can ruin the expensive mass airflow sensor (MAS).
