I think the 140 cars do have wiring harnesses..as I recalled the local dealer telling me they did one in an early 600SEL to the tune of about $3500

check the record book of the early 140(92-94)...you will find many that had instrument clusters replaced(including mine)
On the Lexus I have heard of that issue...but typically when the car was more than 6-7 years old...not 1-2 years old...big differnece there
