Over the years I have found that the best way to go is to just cut 6.5 speakers in the rear shelf. The OE system is just so bad that it is not worth keeping. If you put in speaker boxes they must be mounted for saftey and the holes will also show if removed.

The wood panel is just that a panel -- you can get the carpet from a few places if you really wanted to fix it. I have also seen some junked cars that the carpet was still OK.

This is one of those thing I do not get -- the 560sl is a great car but it is not some rare thing that would stop me from cutting a very easy to replace panel. I have never replaced any that I did before I sold them -- and it was never an issue!
