There's quite a difference between the trained mechanic and the experienced. I'd rather have the aft, the books don't teach it all. Too many times have I relied on so called trained mechanics with all their certificates hanging on the wall, but application was zero. The guy with greasy hands and a not gonna get wipped attitude by a hunk of steel generally knew what the problem was just by sound alone, or a few simple tests. Experience, it's not over rated.
