Edwards is on the ticket because he is more conservative, altho for a dem that's not saying much. He will do the usual thing and say their opinions differ but he is there to serve the president and his wishes. happens in all campaigns. I have been to a couple of Edward's campaign events. He brings far more to the ticket than he detracts. The guy is the most masterful campaigner I've see, better than Clinton. He use's Lincoln style, which is to build a logical case, statement by statement, and then ends his speech with a conclusion from his statements. No stupid meaningless politico statements, like Bush telling us "my job is to do my job!". He gives you stuff with some real meat on it. I hope Kerry allows him to continue to do so.

I think if Dean had melted down earlier, he would have received the nomination. He should play well in the more urbanized southern states, such as the Carolinas, and those that still have traditional southern democrats, like Louisiana. If he picks off even one of those, Bush is doomed if the election plays out exactly as it did last time.
