I had a bear of a time getting the OE AC belt onto my wifes compressor. Oddly enough its a GM compressor. PO must have changed it at some point. I found a crowbar to be very helpfull in getting the compressor over far enough to slip the belt on. Once over the ridges on the pully I had to tighten everything down.
