Don't lie. What you should have done is tell your friend that you didn't like it and that you didn't want to come back. It was a mistake and you had no clue that you would feel that way. You could have worked things out or something.

You could tell your friend now that you feel like an idiot and tell him that you really don't have a job. It was a mistake compounded by another mistake. But now you know you shouldn't have said anything. It's simple.
