speaking of parking lots

95 e300d. 133k. Sorry for diverging a bit from the orig. post. My car's paint is in pretty good shape so I always park as far away from the door as possible. To me, its a lot easier to walk a little bit more than to come out and see a door ding or a side swipe. At the grocery store, it means an additional 120 feet. Big whip. At Wal-Mart, it means an additional 120 yards. Big whip. My wife loves to park close and acts like we're crossing the Sierra Nevada mountains in winter when I insist on parking at the back. At the strip mall, she'll even relocate the car within the parking lot to get closer to a different store. What's up with that? Last night, while sitting on the bus, I saw a guy standing in the bank parking lot on his cell phone looking down at a nice dent in his new SUV. Little pile of tail light lens pieces on the ground. He was parked in one of the spaces closest to the door. Just not worth it to me. Sorry for moving off topic.
