Hard brakes can be from a bad brake booster or a vacuum leak not letting enough or no vacuum to the brake booster, A mighty vac vacuum tester is almost as nescessary as your keys when working on a mercedes auto. A non operating trunk can also be a vacuum leak on that vacuum line ,I have found the trunk lock to be the most touchy of the vacuum operated parts........
