No good shop would be receptive to that plan. The first problem is that it is illegal to substitute in a contracted deal that was already set up with the insurance company. The insurance company also allows the shop 25 % added for parts profit. Did you offer that?

If you wish a different type of repair then you will have to deal with your agent or adjuster. In most cases they will also charge a percentage betterment (proration) to YOU if you get new parts. After all your parts were not new.
