I assume you have a NA 300D or 240D. I have 3 8 300Ds with the OM617 engine. Each is very different from the others, reflecting the different treatment they have had since new.

For Turbo 300Ds they turn up the fuel delivery in the ALDA, but this feature is not available on the NA engines.

I also would like to know the IP setup procedure for these engines.
