What happens when you slam the trunk down? Does it close flush?

My 95S420 wouldn't engage the closure mechanism or had trouble doing it. When I repaired the convenience pump, it started working flawlessly. Prior to that you had to close it almost manually. I'd try turning off the assist and see where it closes manually.
