On that vintage, yes I think you'd get more MB special codes out of the car using the 38 pin under the hood. OBD codes,it would be the same info at the 38 pin, OBD codes are US mandated codes, but MB has codes, special codes, which doesn't have to be offered by OBD. Assenmacher is a highly regarded company. Maybe their website info on this code reader will explain the various systems available above and beyond OBD with this tool.
