You are probably using these already but, if not, here they are. Please post what works for you as well.

Men’s Gardening Gloves
I bought a pair from Target ($4.99) that has knobby rubber under the palms and fingers that wraps around the top of the fingers, ending beyond the first knuckle -- improving your grip while completely protecting fingernails from dirt and grime. I replaced my brakes and rotors while wearing these and when I was done, there was not a trace of grime or dirt on my hands nor, especially, under my fingernails.

The reason I put off some simple repairs and procedures is because I don’t want to spend 2 hours after a 20 minute repair cleaning dirt and grime from under and around my nails -- only to still have some linger for days afterwards. Those thin latex and polyurethane surgical gloves always tear and are useless. These gardening gloves, however, are tough yet thin enough to allow you to work normally. When done, drop them in the washer and they are good as new.

Armor-All Wipes
I got a free sample with a bottle of wheel cleaner. They actually do work. After a week, my dash still looks like it was just shined.
