Went to use my rear window demister the other day on my 89 560SEL.

Pressed the button, light came on, no demisting though after 5 minutes. Popped the bonnet and went to check fuse 3 which is listed as being the rear window demister fuse.

Strangely enough there isn't a fuse. There is a what looks like a metal bridge between two studs that you would expect the fuse holder to sit on. There is also a wire that has been connected to one of the screws into the stud and this runs off under the fusebox.

I am not sure what to do next, someone has obviously messed with it.

Can fuse holders be removed from the box?

I will get a pic when the weather here clears up.
