Exclamation rear subframe mods

My understanding is that it's not as easy as a "drop in." AMG had to modify the rear subframe in the 124 cars to make the longer 560 differential fit. You can see in the restoration pictures they basically cut the subframe in the center and created a triangular bracing around the rear of the diff.

One of those "don't try this at home" tricks.

As far as the motor drop in you can see the new motor mounts and frame in the photo; despite the modifications the car still rocks a bit side to side if you run the revs up at standstill.

Reno, this is almost certainly the C&D car, down to the same Alpine CD still in the dash and the MB history from Westmont, IL. (I redid the grill recently in the original black). It doesn’t really idle like a Cummins diesel anymore, but it sure pulls like one.

The 90’s era Land Bruiser is one of the best models they built from a combo of ability and refinement. The new ones are too Lexus-cushy and way more complex (DOHC V8, electrics..) and the in-line six is bulletproof. It had better be for the amount of gas it burns; in Europe you fortunately have the turbo diesel option.
