Since you're using the H&R Sport springs ( shorter than stock ), I would strongly recommend using the Bilstein Sport shocks.
They have a shorter shaft ( to maintain the same stroke length ), are recommended for drops of 1" or more, & I do not find them hard at all ( just nice & " controlled ").
My second last set of tires were Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ( 215/55/16 ), with a relatively " firm " ride.
My new set are Michelin Pilot Sport PS 2 ( 225/45/17 )and, believe it or not, they ride smoother than My Continental ( 195/65/15 ) winter tires.
