By the way, I was absolutely persuaded by the forum member who posted the line of reasoning, that since diesels do in fact ignite (even though the ignition source is not electricity), that it is indeed an ignition switch. The switch stops ignition by stopping the fuel rather than stopping the electricity.

Argument settled!
