The 80 amp alternator has an 8mm output lug. If you use it on a 88 you will have to change the harness or add an eyelet to the old harness. This can not be done with normal crimp connections. You need a heavy lug that can be soldered to the wires.

The normal numbers are AL65X 70amp AL66X 80amp. My info shows AL165X as 80amp but doesn't say what it fits. It looks like the right one but looks aren't the operating criteria.
