I think the top speed I have had in my bug is 85-90...but you are watching the road as that car gets moved around by the wind and ruts a LOT.
They do alright for themselves...I would rather take one of those cars than most modern SUV's into the wild...
Probably becuase I know exactly what parts are in my car, what could break, what won't, etc.
I'll see if I can dig up some pictures of where my car has been
True. Lack of power is a plus in the smow. And there is far less to break down and leave you stranded. And lots of what can go wrong can be Jerry rigged along the road to get you home. Unlike a Dead electronic ignition.
