Here's an easy one, borrowed from a previous post...

old fashioned Mr. Cheapie fan clutch test:

>wear safety equipment: goggles & gloves

>on a fully warm motor/ cooling system
>roll up daily newspaper (ready to swat a dog), approx 5-6 sheets is sufficient (not too tightly rolled)
>with motor warm and running, touch the tip (approx 2 of the newspaper to the middle 1/2 portion of the moving fan blade (do not jamb the entire newspaper in)
>if the fan chews up the tip of the newspaper, the fan clutch would appear to be engaging appropriately (locked when warm)
>if the fan stops, it would appear the the fan clutch is not thermo locked appropriately
