I am not a high tech person myself, but I would like to share a few pointers on this matter that I have heard around:
First, be very careful at handling the airbag, it could deploy if not managed properly.
After you remove it, store it face up, so if it deploys by itself, the bag will deploy upwards. If you store it face down, the housing could become a dangerous projectile if the airbag deploys itself.
When reinstalling the housing, be careful about on handling the deployment wires. You have to be sure that the steering wheel is CENTERED.
Also, all proper procedures have to be followed according to the manufacturer. If not, the SRS light will come on and you will have to access the computer to turn it off.
