The pressure regulator near the FD does regulate the fuel pressure to the FD. But you need to get fuel to the regulator from the tank, when the pumps are off, as the fuel evaporates in a hot FD. That's why you need a fuel accummulator (FA), it accumulates fuel and holds it under pressure, when the pumps are off, it pushes the fuel to the regulator, then onto the FD.


You may also have a leak in one of your fuel lines. I had one line rust through and leak.
