I use my FSS to "count down" every 15,000kms. I do an oil and filter change when it's counted down to 10K, then 5K, and then at 0 I do a service that includes changing the oil and filter, engine air filter and cabin dust filter.

I have been driving about 2000kms a month, so about every 7-8 months I do a service where the filters get swapped out.

Now, there are some exceptions. Last summer I swapped a new engine air filter in just before leaving for a 5500km trip to Alaska and back, and then changed it again right away when we got home. We had to drive through some terrible conditions (gravel, clouds of bugs, etc.) and didn't want a rotten filter in there.

Every 30,000kms (two FSS countdowns) I do the equivalent of a B service where I go through the car with a fine tooth comb. Also, every other spring I change the coolant and brake fluid. I know the MB interval is longer, but I'm "old school" when it comes to some stuff. Plugs are supposed to last 72,000kms but thats BS. I change 'em every 45,000 or so. Fuel filters are to last 96,000kms or 4-5 years? Yeah, right. In my parts, our gas is pretty "un-clean" and most MB nuts I know swap 'em every year.

The only thing that REALLY pisses me off is the lack of real service interval for the 722.6 tranmission. Jerks at MB can't see past the end of the warranty or lease contract. How things have changed...
