I found a lot of topics on this issue, but none of them were very defnitive for me.

Quick Question:

I drive a 1991 300E 3.0. The Exhaust system goes from the manifolds, to the cat, to something, to the muffler.

Is the object between the rear muffler and the catalytic convertor a "resonator" or another muffler?

Also, I live in TX, does anyone know if it would be legal to remove the rear muffler, but leave the (muffler/resonator) in place?
