Japan imported German made AMG's but also had their own AMG facility (AMG of Japan) where stock MB vehicles were modified (under license of AMG). I don't believe this facility exists anymore (since MB bought AMG).
AMG of Japan vehicles will carry a specific VIN plate stating AMG of Japan. German made AMG's have German AMG identification, thats the easiest way of identifing the two.
At one time I was told that AMG of Japan tuned vehicles could not be sold outside of Japan.
