If you can lip read well, chances are you have significant hearing loss, unless you are like I am and suffer from overly sensitive hearing. Doesn't take much noise for me too lose all conversation (I normall wear ear plugs when out to clubs, even fairly quiet ones).

If you cannot understand people unless they are looking at you, you definitely have hearing loss.

This gets to be considerably less fun with age....
