I think Hans said there are four sheet metal tabs that go past the sensor -- he's had a number of them apart over the years.

I don't know what the timing is cold, but it could still be the Hall effect if it moves when it warms up.

The flywheel will fit one hole off with the bolts all loose...

needless to say, he doesn't want to pull the engine just to check this...
