This happened to me many years ago. My father had a 1967 Mercedes 200D w/ fins. I was probably 17 at the time! I could not believe how the "wheel/tire" actually had a flame around it!

That was our first of what would become a long series of Mercedes diesels in our family. Loved that body style though.
