I am interested in replacing my blown OEM antenna with either a plain whip antenna or an amplified, concealed antenna. I am aware that there is power running to the original antenna, which I could tap into for the amplifier on the concealed antenna. Regardless of which type of antenna I go with, will I have to run the new cable all the way to the front behind my head unit? Or can I somehow just "cut" the existing antenna cable and splice into it with the new antenna? For instance, is there some sort of female end adapter I could put on the existing antenna cable after I cut and separate it from the OEM antenna, enabling me to just plug the male end of the new antenna into it?
