Tomm9298,
Posting this here in case others need this info:
Here is the outfit that sold the split boots:
Cosmos International
218-685-4473
Part# CQB-951 (fits my 1985 300TDT)
$19.95 when ordered in July '01
The Cosmos people were very helpful and seemed to know all about MBZ CV joints. They don't recommend the split boots be used on the inside joint but in a conversation with them they allowed as how it would probably be OK to do, just not "recommended". Mine was installed on the outside and has been great. Wrap the old boot in plastic wrap before you remove it and throughly hose all dirt etc. off the area. Let dry and remove the old boot. I glued the new boot together around the axle and let it harden before pulling it into place. I also wrapped some thin wire around the outside of the boot in a couple of places to hold it firmly together while the glue cured. Be really sure you don't get any oil on the seam before gluing. This is easier than it sounds but critical. I had to stop a couple of times to wash the boot and/or my hands to get oil off of them. It was worth the effort. I think a lot of the "failures" of these split boots is really because they aren't installed right. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck.
