But what constitutes a parts car?

Most people say when the body is played and has rusted to smitherines. Others base their opinon purely on mechanicals like beat engine, tranny or drivetrain & suspension work.

Among Heckflossen 111's there are so few mechanicals that can go wrong that most people with jump all over a car with decent cosmetics - knowing that cyl head work or "waking up" an old and sleepy or partially disassembled engine is the least of their worries.

Dobrogan, what d'you mean by "partially rebuilt engine"? One man's junk is another man's treasure.

Hell, why dont you give the car to the kid for free - knowing it's going to a very good home among a family of cars of its own kind.

It's a weird thing when collectors become possessive. Maybe y'all folks are forgeting the rewards of passing one generation's hobbyist interests onto the next.

And where on earth will you find somebody 'worthy' to continue the tradition? If not here on the Vintage Forum, then probably nowhere else on earth.
