most likely the relay inside the antenna has fried.

If you want, you should be able to pry open the antenna housing, and directly jump the motor. I did that on my car before whent he relay was bad, I ended up finding a good used antenna for cheap.

You can also buy a hirschman universal antenna and install it and it will work fine, but I prefer the oem unit.

The cable fromt he antenna could be spliced with the other antenna, but I don;t recommend it, as it can cause reception problems in some cases.

I would check around and try toget a good used working antenna. Much better than going with a whip or concealed unit.

You can remove the antenna fromt he car, then open it up and see the wires for jumping the motor.
