Kick down switch-'79 300D pedal don't reach

Hey all, I did my due diligence searching the archives so here is a query.

The gas pedal of my 300D does not depress far enough when floored to hit the kick down switch.

That rubber wedge is intact behind the gas pedal and the switch seems to be installed properly as compared to the 240D kick down switch which works properly. The wedge is jsut shy of the switch face by about maybe half a centimeter.

All this time and I had not noticed the lack of it !!

It may have worked originally but somewhere along the line the pedal resulted short of reach.

Question is: Can the pedal 'throw' be adjusted via the throttle linkage at the engine?? If so, what else may need to be re-adjusted as a result of messing with the pedal throw adjustment?

Thanks
