Charger Info

Just a minor clarification on chargers.

There is a big difference between a "trickle charger" and a "batter tender" (which is a brand name, but refers to a charger with electronic control).

A trickle charger is stupid (not meaning you for buying it, but) - it always gives a little juice, and if your battery if full, it can aid in electrolyte evaporation (sometimes by boiling), and if you hook it up wrong it just tries it's best to charge to battery backwards.

A "batter tender" is smart - if you hook it up wrong, it shuts itself off (usually with a warning light) - and more important, if your battery is charged fully, then the tender shuts itself off and monitors charge until needed again.

I carry a copy of the battery tender (I manage a motorcycle parts shop) - it comes with adapters with alligator clips, permanent battery mounts, and cigarette type adapter, all in a nice carrying case. It runs less than $50 (private PM please for more info).
