For the 560SEL. . .

the job is pretty easy. But for a M119 engine, it's a different story. Must remove both camshafts on the offending side and that means removing the CMS wheel. So must remove the front cover, etc. It's a biggeee!

I had one that occasionally did the tick-tick dance and tried a product called Auto-RX. Interesting 'stuff'! It not only removed the tick but cleaned the engine deposits and varnish; bottom line it's like a new engine under the valve covers. No kidding.

Before I'd change the lifter, I would certainly recommend that you try Auto-RX. If it's plugged, then it will clean it out. It's in the LINK section on my page.
