Oh, your on the right track, Apocalyptic TV Religion in this country is very new, and is very entwined with uber-patriotism and a desire for a One Party State. It is a new state religion, guys like Roy Moore, the "Ten Commandments Judge", Dobson, Falwell, Robertson are all trying to see to it. Bush uses religion the same way Hitler did, in implying God is ok with our invasions and atrocities against unarmed civilian populations. Like I said, these guys are reading a formula out of Goebbel's book. I heard Dobson is pushing Bush to nominate the "Ten Commandments Judge" for the Supreme Court. Don't be surprised.
