This is also a symptom of failing ball joints. Turn the wheels full lock, get underneath and check for torn dust boots at the ball joints and look for the telltale light brown rust in the local area.

I had this problem and temporarily eliminated it by very carefully spraying a shot of WD40 at the ball joint. You don't want to get ANY on your brake disk for obvious reasons.
