It's worse than you think. I did not have a large open end metric wrench for the fitting so I used a big crescent wrench.

I also did not have a thin enough metric wrench to hold the boss on the cooler. So, I just used the crescent wrench without holding the boss.

Gave it a good shot with my right hand and it broke loose immediately without ripping out the cooler!
