I went to work this weekend to poke around, halfway wanting a more strait 240 body to work with. I work at a salvage yard by the way. I looked through my couple dozen 240's, and I'll be #$%^%&* if every single one is not rusted in the rockers, floor pans from water in the rockers, rear lower quarters, or a combination thereof.
Maybe being from OK and now in NC I'm spoiled, but you'd think there would be ONE reasonably un-rusty body around here.
Actually I have one, an 83 240 DL, which is an AZ car and completly rust free, but the drivers side door hinges are off inboard about a quarter inch from a fairly minor colission. I'm not likeing the looks of what I'll have to (learn) to do to fix it, but at this rate I think I'm going to.
What a silly thing this flow through the chassis ventilation thing Volvo used was. Not to mention the wireing harnesses falling apart..
That's my whine for the day I guess.
On the up side, all the stuff I want for my w123 is available for the 240 Volvo, poly bushings, lowering springs, adjustable suspension parts, a T5 trans conversion kit, big sway bars, big breaks, etc, etc. If only Mercedes had this aftermarket for an older model. Just have to find a solid Volvo or fix the one I have, hmm..
Any body men want to chime in?
