Ditch the resonator, upgrade the muffler, and keep the cat. Along with the obvious illegality, the cat provides the "limited backpressure" actually required by your exhaust system to make more power. Eliminate all the backpressure and you will have an experience similar to the one you had with your Dub. Paul.
