Before I purchased my present 300SDL I had looked at another that had known Transmission problems. To see what the 'worst case scenario' would be I called my local M-B Dealer and asked what a rebuilt Transmission would cost. They quoted me about $2500 Cdn. (Approx $2000 US today) installed and that was for a M-B rebuilt unit (complete with Torque Converter) with full 12 month warranty. I didn't think that was too bad for dealer pricing. This was about 18 months ago, so I'm not sure what prices are today.
