Fear.
Fear of the unkown. It is the basis for hatred. The media feeds it, while never trying to explain it. The gov't manipulates it for monetary gain and social stability. The religions justify it by telling their flock that they just happen to be better than all the rest, who of course for some petty reason or the other, have it wrong.

This fear/hatred manifests itself in some funny ways right here on this forum. Have you ever noticed how the stark raving mad right wingers on this forum usually have some kind of anti-social avatar or signature? And they think this is normal and cool. That is the biggest hoot.
