It could be a normal driving condition; the 722.6 transmissions have the catalytic pre heat cold up shift delay; it can also be a driving style shift adaptation, depending on how aggressive you drive the car when cold. A defective transmission range recognition switch can cause erratic shift complaints. The first step in diagnostics is fluid level and condition, reading fault codes and adaptation values.
