I am seriously considering swapping the auto transmission for a 5-speed manual. I have have an OM617A motor and am wondering if anyone has done such a switch? I am wondering what is involved in the swap and what transmissions would make good candidates. I was thinking a 711.1XX 5-speed would make a good choice but have no idea what vehicles these came in or where to find one. I just saw it on a list once of Mercedes transmissions and liked the ratios.

Any ideas or help would be great.
